Campus Life Clubs
MISSION
Many middle and high school students are longing for positive social interaction and a place to address everyday life issues. The pressures facing our students today can be overwhelming.
Campus Life can help! Campus Life clubs provide an all-inclusive, fun, social environment where middle and high school students consider God’s great love for them and how it impacts their
relationships, decisions and self-worth. Small group and one-on-one mentoring are integral parts of the club format. Positive Peer Friendships are formed while students eat, laugh, discuss life,
values, character and faith.
Campus Life Clubs are serving over 600 students each week on 13 Miami-Dade public school campuses. The students attending these clubs report that they have more purpose, more friends and more hope for the future.
Overview
With an emphasis on supporting the most at-risk, alienated and “loner” youth, Campus Life creates a fun social environment and a group mentoring club once a week. Clubs have 30-40 students on average and can be run depending on when is most convenient for the school, such as during lunch or before school. Some schools opt to have their Campus Life club during first period to give extra support to students who are struggling through school while some schools have us meet at lunch because that can be the most isolating time for high-risk youth. Clubs can meet in a classroom, library, or auditorium setting.
Club curriculum includes a game to get kids to relax and build friendships, a relatable topic to discuss in small groups, advice on how to face that type of problem, and once a month we share how Jesus specifically gives us hope to change. We are a faith-based organization, and we welcome and serve youth from every religion, gender, race or circumstance.
The ratio of students to adult staff and volunteers is normally 10 to 1, but we strive for smaller ratios. We would launch a new club with a minimum of 5 volunteers and grow to 10. Additionally, our staff and volunteers will support the school and students by attending sporting events, plays, and helping any teachers that would like us to volunteer.
